School for Professional & Continuing Studies

The mission of the School for Professional and Continuing Studies (SPCS) is to invest in the academic, leadership, and personal enrichment pursuits of post-traditional learners, creating a continuum of educational experiences that support degree attainment, life-long learning, professional development, leadership excellence, and service to the region.

The School is home to the Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals program, the Fifty and Better program (based in the Center for Lifelong Learning), and the Center for Nonprofit Leadership (CNL). One of our programs has been serving students since 1985.

The students in the Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals program are the most diverse student population at Cal Lutheran. Many are overcoming significant obstacles (including financial insecurity) to complete their undergraduate degree.

The students in the Fifty and Better program are the ultimate lifelong learners. They are 50+ years of age and seeking intellectual stimulation (without the pressure of grades) for the sake of learning and social engagement. To learn more about Fifty and Better, please see their fundraising page.

The Center for Nonprofit Leadership is the one-stop source for excellence in nonprofit leadership. To learn more about the CNL, please see their fundraising page.

Supporting the School for Professional and Continuing Studies' greatest need fund will help us better serve our constituents in many ways! This fund will help cover the costs for events for students and their families in the Bachelor’s Degree for Professionals program, fund events and field trips for the Fifty and Better program, and help us fund speakers and school-wide activities.

Whether 20 or 80 years of age, our students rely on our programs to enrich their lives and position them for professional success and leadership excellence.

Your consideration to support the School for Professional and Continuing Studies on Cal Lutheran Cares Day is appreciated. Thank you!
